Hands-On Table and Chair

Hands-on table and chair work is undertaken one-on-one to repattern the neuromuscular system and realign the skeletal system.

The body moves according to familiar movement patterns. When a habitual pattern prevents optimal physical functioning, the pattern needs to be changed.

This change is fostered through an instructor's gentle hands-on manipulation and verbal cueing, as the student strives to let go and allow rather than do. When pressure, tension and holding patterns release, the student experiences increased freedom of movement and recovery from pain.

Closely observing M. Cohen-Nehemia’s hands-on work during studies with him, Amelia began to develop a theory she later named balancing forces to explain the changes brought about by hands-on work.

Mitzvah Instructor Toshie Okabe: "The thing I always admired about Nehemia is that he never used force to create change."
